GURGAON: The Resident Welfare
Association (RWA) of Sector 15 has written to the Haryana Urban Development Authority
(HUDA) against the hasty condition of the fountain and the machines installed
in the community park.
The residents claimed that the park's name, Rose Garden, has become a misnomer because of HUDA. "The fountains of the park are not working for the past two years. The RWA has written to the HUDA horticulture department and no result has been achieved," said Ramesh Vashisth, general secretary, RWA, Sector 15 (1). The park's maintenance is the responsibility of the RWA, but the fountain and machines, like water pumps, are to be handled by the development authority.
The residents blamed HUDA officials for the plight of the fountains. "The authority spent big money on the fountains and machines for the park. However, after installing these, HUDA just lost the interest in running them," said Vashisth.
The residents had taken up the matter with the horticulture department but received a mysterious reply. "We were told that HUDA civil department looks after the machine assets, not the horticulture wing. Now, the civil department has told us to check with the electrical wing," said Vashisth.
The sector has eight parks. The RWA get Rs 40,000 from HUDA for the upkeep of the facilities and they claimed the amount is insufficient to maintain all the parks. "There is no one to listen to our grievances about the shortage of funds. If the RWA had sufficient fund, we could have fixed the fountain on our own," said another resident.
For the residents, the absence of the running fountain has now become a question pride and they have filed a complaint with the public grievance committee. "The complaint was put up in the committee and now HUDA officials have promised to fix the fountain, but there is little hope," said the RWA president RS Raghav.
